President - Eileen Jones CPAGB BPE3*

I have always been interested in photography... I suppose it started when I was a child - helping my dad develop film in the darkroom at home.

My first decent film camera was a second hand Nikon FM. I used to try out my photography skills at friends and family weddings. I was usually the back-up photographer so I tried to get everyone to do different things as I didn’t like the ‘formal’ stuff.

Although I was used to a film camera, I knew nothing about digital photography and Photoshop. So when I took early retirement, I decided to devote my time to digital photography and joined Warrington Photographic Society in 2011.

When I first saw the standard of photography at our club monthly competitions, I thought ‘Wow’ these people are all much better than me. But gradually, I learnt more and after some help and advice from the members, my images started to improve. In 2016 I achieved the CPAGB qualification and a BPE2* in 2017.

In 2013 I took on the role of External Competition Secretary for the club - and after a shaky start, it wasn’t long before Warrington PS started to be a main contender in the L&CPU regional and PAGB national competitions.

In 2018, in addition to the External Competition Secretary’s role, I was elected as President for Warrington Photographic Society.

My main objective for the club will be to – help and encourage members to improve their photography skills, attract new members to join the club and make it a friendly place to be.
