Image Sizing for Competition.

Competition images are to be sized at 1400 pixels wide by 1050 pixels high.

In Photoshop you select menu 'Image/Image Size'. This takes you to the following page.

You first set the resolution to 72 pixels/inch.

Then with the constraint proportions ticked set either the width or the height. The other dimension will automatically change.

If you set a portrait image to be 1050  pixels high you will get the following dialogue. Accept this and carry on.

All images must be 1400 pixels wide by 1050 pixels high. As we can see from the previous picture the width is now 788 pixels wide. To fix this we must alter the canvas size of the image.

This is done in menu 'Image/Canvas Size'

When we enter this dialogue box the default setting is centimetres. Change this to pixels to get the following image.

Here the image is incorrect in both directions. Make sure that 'Relative' is un ticked and make the width 1400 and the height 1050. Ensure that the 'Canvas Extension Color' is set to the colour you want. Rules dictate Black or Grey, in a darkend room black looks better.

When you press 'OK' you will find that your image is now the full size required and that it has a border on the sides that were short.

The image must now be saved using 'Save As' and set the tick in 'Use Lower Case Extension'
