DIGITAL PROJECTED IMAGE RULES
The Warrington Photographic Society runs a digital projected image competition in both the annual and monthly competitions. The submission requirements are based on those used in the LCPU and RPS and other external competitions.

COMPETITION RULES - ANNUAL
  1. The competition is open to members of the Warrington Photographic Society only. The digital competition Class E is an Open category and there is no restriction on subject matter for the images

  2. Each member may submit an entry of up to five digital images per section on CD or DVD.

  3. A completed entry form and entrance fees are required for each submission.

  4.  The member submitting the digital images must be the author and the owner of their copyright for the entire image. Each image will be considered separately by the Judge.

  5.  Each image submitted can not have been entered in ANY WPS Annual competition previously irrespective of section or category.

  6.  The organisers (WPS) cannot accept responsibility for any data problems with CD/DVD or format of image files. The entrant is responsible for ensuring their files and data are correctly formatted.

  7.  The images must be in their final file format as defined below. The Competition secretary will NOT perform any manipulation, resizing, or other alterations to the presented images, other than that required to place all of the entries into a single competition folder.

  8. Digital images must not exceed 1400 pixels in width by 1050 pixels in height for Landscape or 778 pixels in width by 1050 pixels in height for Portrait. Images exceeding these dimensions will be rejected. Set the resolution to 72 DPI.

  9. Any image less than the maximum 1400 pixels wide by 1050 wide in any direction, the unused area must be filled with black or dark grey.

  10.  Note: This is because the digital projector used is always operated in landscape mode and has a maximum display area of 1400 pixels wide and 1050 pixels high. So an image 1400 pixels wide and 778 pixels high would be accepted, but one 1400 pixels high and 1400 pixels wide would not.

  11.  Note: An image in portrait format must also adhere to these rules, i.e. it cannot be taller than 1050 pixels, so an image 1050 pixels wide and 1400 high would be rejected.

  12.  The images should be submitted as a flattened 8-bit RGB or greyscale files in optimised jpeg format on CD or DVD discs. Images in other formats such as PSD or images with layers will be rejected.

  13.  The image files are to be submitted in a folder named as 'Your Name' and images named in the pattern of: 001_Title, 002_Title, 003_Title, etc where 001 is the number of your image and title is the name or your image. This new naming format is to facilitate the use of the new DiCentra Competition Software. It is important that this is followed and image files not named in this pattern will be rejected.
